Last week it was announced by Psyonix that Rocket League cross-platform play will be happening by the end of Spring. We already can play Rocket League cross-platform from PC to Xbox One or PC to Playstation 4. However, the final wall needs to broken down so the PC, Xbox 1, and Playstation 4 communities can all be one. Psyonix has already released that they have found the way to make this happen they just need Sony to get on board.
Announcement from Psyonix about Rocket League Cross-Platform play
Jeremy Dunham from Psyonix said, “Technologically everything works, we’ve got it figured out, just a little bit of time to get everything up and running. Right now, excitement is the best way to put it. We just want to get in there and make it happen. The only thing we have to do now is sort of find out where we stand politically with everyone, and then it’s full steam ahead to finish the solution that we’ve already started.” This is absolutely amazing news for Rocket League cross-platform play, we just have to wait and hope that Sony is on board with everything as much as Microsoft is. Which is a weird statement, usually Microsoft is hiding in its evil lair trying to avoid playing nice with all the simple peasants.
Sony’s Response to Cross-Platform play
Sony announced that they would entertain the idea of cross-platform play, but who knows what will end up happening. I for one, am very hopeful. Rocket League has over 1 million unique users, and I would like to quit matching up against the same people who apparently learned to type from a monkey. I mean seriously, it is not that hard to type while you are watching the replay of the goal I just scored on you. All of us will just have to wait, and hold our breath for the much anticipated Rocket League cross-platform play!
